USTA New England Honors Pina with Re-Election

Plymouth, MA – Gary Pina, a Plymouth resident and longtime United States Tennis Association (USTA) volunteer, was recently re-elected as President of the USTA New England Board of Directors. As President, Pina is also currently serving as the Interim Executive Director while the organization finishes their search to fill the position.

Two years ago, Pina was elected as the organization’s first president of color and was recognized for his 20 years of service to USTA New England.

"I’m honored to continue serving as President for USTA New England and looking forward to this upcoming year," said Pina. "I’m excited to see how the rule change will help grow 10 & Under Tennis along with our continual work ‘To Promote and Develop the Growth of Tennis’ in New England."

Pina’s service to the USTA extends past New England in his role as Chairperson of the organization’s National Schools Committee. He is also a former tennis coach at Carver High School and started the Falmouth Community Tennis Association in 1988. In 2004, Pina was the recipient of the Gardner Ward Chase Award, given by USTA New England to the individual who makes an outstanding commitment to promoting and growing the game of tennis.

Pina, who is employed as the Chief Court Officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Trial Court’s Plymouth Division, has been recognized for his commitment to introducing tennis to diverse populations.
