NJTL and the President’s Challenge
Mobilizing the NJTL network
In an effort to deepen our relationship with the White House and Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Campaign against childhood obesity, we are attempting to mobilize the NJTL network to adopt the Presidents’ Challenge. The President’s Challenge is a physical activity challenge of 60 minutes per day, 5 days per week, for 6 weeks during an 8 week timeframe. We would like to have as many NJTL participants as possible join with us and achieve the challenge. For successful participants, NJTL will purchase signed certificates from President Obama. The more people and chapters who take on the challenge, the bigger contribution we can demonstrate to the budding partnership that our network can make a difference in the lives of young people across the country.
Here’s how it works
Participants can either submit their own activity online, or via hardcopy. Individual participants can submit their own updates, or chapter leaders can manage their participants’ activity and submit for them online or via hardcopy, too. Activity logs are based on the honor system and self-reported information. Below is a link to the USTA/NJTL Group number (91343) which is essential for participants to use when registering the first time. When it asks for Member Name, just insert the local NJTL chapter name or local program name.
Olympus US Open Series Markets
In the few markets where there are both a number of NJTL chapters and an Olympus US Open Series tournament, we want to make a special effort to mobilize participants. If we can have 250 participants in each market achieve the challenge, we would like to arrange for special tournament recognition of these players, starting with the first tournament in Atlanta at the end of July and ending with the US Open in NYC.
