Congratulations to the winners of the New England Nike Junior Tour (NJT) qualifying tournaments.
Winners at the Longfellow Tennis/Fitness Club 14's Level 4 NJT qualifier were; Aaron Revzin (Needham, MA) and Jillian Rooney (Canton, MA).
Winners at the Bloomfield Tennis Club 12's Level 4 NJT qualifier were; Jared Donaldson (Cumberland, RI) and Valeria Deronjic (Melrose, MA).
Winning these NJT events qualified these players to be invited to compete at the NJT USA National Masters, September 12-14, 2008 at Stanford University. The NJT USA National Masters winners go on to play in the NJT International Masters in late October at an international location.
David Zeutas-Broer, USTA New England Player Development Manager, has been named to coach the New England players at this event in California in September. He said," This is a fantastic opportunity for these young players to compete against the other USTA Section champions at an outstanding college venue that has so much prestigious tennis history." Coach Zeutas-Broer added, "I am excited and priviliged to be coaching these talented players and can't wait for September". Aaron, Jillian and Jared are all the #1 New England players in their respective age groups and Valeria is #3 with recent wins over #1 and #2."
The NJT is a worldwide series of junior singles tournaments for Boy's and Girls in the 12 and 14 age groups. There are currently 22 countries participating in the NJT, representing over 60,000 players. Former NJT International Masters winners include Rafael Nadal and Robin Soderling. Nike provides round trip transportation, food and lodging for the Level 4 Sectional winner(s) (B14, B12, G14, G12) plus one team coach. Expenses for the International Masters are also paid for by Nike.
