CONCORD, Mass. – Whether playing USTA Juniors or high school tennis, Alex Steinroeder has been dominant during his tennis matches in 2009.

His formula for success is anything but secret – Steinroeder’s work ethic and attitude are second to none.

Steinroeder is currently the top-ranked 16-year-old in New England, according to the USTA rankings. He also happens to be the No. 1 18-year-old player in New England, proving he has the ability to win consistently against opponents his own age and the fortitude to challenge and beat older players.

Steinroder is winning and he’s doing it with class and that hasn’t gone unrecognized by opponents, coaches and tournament directors. The Concord, Mass. native received a prestigious USTA New England sportsmanship award in 2008.

"We are proud of Alex’s accomplishments," said David Zeutas-Broer, USTA New England’s Player Development Manager. "He has been a role model for working hard in practice, trying his best in matches and showcasing character in victory and defeat."

While Steinroeder will continue to train with other top-flight junior players at the New England Academy of Tennis in Natick, Mass., he’ll also be focused on his high school schedule and defending the Massachusetts Division 1 state team and individual championships he captured last year as a sophomore.

Steinroeder is just one top-ranked player currently training at the New England Academy of Tennis. Ben Tso (14) and Nikit Reddy (10) are also ranked No. 1 in their respective USTA New England age groups.
