Rivalries Renewed at 65 & Over Sectionals


This year’s USTA League 65 & Over New England Sectionals was all about rivalries. Both 7.0 and 6.0 Women’s teams as well as the 7.0 Men’s teams dethroned reigning Sectional champions and formed or continued already passionate rivalries within the division. Read More
 

40 & Over Teams Advance to Nationals


The USTA League Adult 40 & Over Sectionals featured a weekend of heat, hardships and hard-nosed competition, and after all was said and done, nine teams captured New England championships to advance to Nationals in October. Sectionals were held from August 26-28 at three sites throughout Western Massachusetts: Mt. Holyoke College, Ludlow Tennis Club and Williston Northampton School. Read More
 

18 & Over Teams Advance to Nationals


Nine New England teams have advanced to USTA League 18 & Over Nationals after taking home Sectional titles on August 21 at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. Teams competed in three-day round-robin style flight play to decide winners from each NTRP level. One team from each of the Men’s and Women’s 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 and 3.0 divisions advanced as well as one from the Women’s 2.5 division. Read More

Sixteen USTA League 40 & Over teams advanced to Sectionals by winning their flight or earning a wild card bid at the District Championships on August 14. Districts were held in Eastern Massachusetts at four sites north of Boston—Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly, Willows Tennis Club in North Andover, Winchester Indoor Lawn and Tennis Club and Woburn Racquet Club. Nine USTA League 18 & Over teams from Eastern Massachusetts took home District Championships on August 7 and have advanced to Sectionals on August 19 in South Hadley, MA. The teams were crowned champions of the Blue District. USTA League 18 & Over Districts are broken up into four regional divisions, with nine teams advancing (one men’s and women’s team per NTRP level per site). Eastern Mass. Eight USTA League 18 & Over teams from New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine took home District Championships on August 7 and have advanced to Sectionals on August 19 in South Hadley, MA. The teams were crowned champions of the Green District. USTA League 18 & Over Districts are broken up into four regional divisions, with nine teams advancing (one men’s and women’s team per NTRP level per site. Kevin Dupont: A Tennis Renaissance Man


Some would say Kevin Dupont is tennis-obsessed— and they would be correct. “That’s a nice way of putting it,” Dupont, 22, originally from Dighton MA, said. It’s one thing to have a love for the game but it’s another to live and breathe tennis. Dupont does the latter. He currently plays on 12 USTA League teams based in five New England states, one of which he has also captained for the past three years. Read More

Mixed 40 & Over Sectionals 6.0 Champions


WAC Calleva, the Mixed 40 & Over team playing out of Waltham Athletic Club in Waltham, MA, captured the 6.0 title at the USTA League Sectional Championships held from July 15-17 at the Woburn Racquet Club in Woburn, MA. The Waltham team defeated teams from Tewksbury, MA and Portland, ME in a three-team championship flight to take home the title. Mixed 40 & Over Sectionals 7.0 Champions


Mixology, the Mixed 40 & Over team representing Farmington Farms Tennis & Athletic Club in Farmington, CT, captured the 7.0 title at the USTA League Sectional Championships held from July 15-17 at the Woburn Racquet Club in Woburn, MA. Mixology defeated a team representing Harvard Recreation out of Boston, MA, 2-1 in the semifinals and then went on to beat Boston Sports Clubs in Lexington, MA, 2-1, in the championship match. Cedardale Red, the Mixed 40 & Over team representing Cedardale Health and Fitness in Haverhill, MA, captured the 8.0 title at the USTA League Sectional Championships at the Woburn Racquet Club in Woburn, MA. The Cedardale team defeated a team from Old Greenwich, CT 3-0 in the semifinals and then outlasted a team from Shrewsbury, MA 2-1, in the championship match.
