Juniors Capture Four National Titles


New England juniors made their presence felt at the most recent L2 National Selection Tournaments throughout the country. The section brought home four singles and doubles titles from February 13-15 and featured many more notable performers. Overall, 27 players competed throughout 15 tournaments nationally. Read More

DI Women's Indoors on Friday at Yale


Sixteen of the top Division I women's tennis teams are headed to New Haven, Connecticut, to compete in the 2017 ITA Division I National Women's Team Indoor Championship. The four-day event, which begins on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, takes place at two sites: the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center and the Tennis and Fitness Center of Rocky Hill, with Yale University serving as the official event host. CT Open Announces Powershares Legends


Tennis Hall of Fame inductees Michael Chang and John McEnroe will face Fairfield’s James Blake and defending champion Mark Philippoussis in a PowerShares Series event - the circuit for champion tennis players over the age of 30 - at the 2017 Connecticut Open presented by United Technologies, to be held August 18-26, at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale, it was announced today by Tournament Director Anne Worcester. Juniors Compete at Winter Sectionals


New England juniors closed out their Januaries with the L3 Winter Singles Sectionals from January 28-29 at eight sites across New England. The tournaments were the second L3 New England events of the year, as players opened the year with Doubles Sectionals from January 14-15. The final two L3 New England events of the year will be Summer Sectionals, which will take place in April (doubles) and June (singles). Read More
 

USTA to Debut NCAA Rankings


The USTA today announced that it will debut the inaugural USTA College Tennis Top 25 team rankings on February 8, its latest initiative to promote the college game. The weekly rankings will rate the Top 25 men’s and women’s teams in NCAA Division I and will be released each Wednesday on USTA.com. Read More

Clijsters, Roddick get Hall of Fame Nod


Former world No. 1's Kim Clijsters and Andy Roddick have been elected to receive the highest honor in tennis - induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Joining them in the Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will be Monique Kalkman-van den Bosch, a 4-time Paralympic medalist in wheelchair tennis, being honored for her remarkable career. Tri-Level Teams off to Indian Wells


The New Year is underway and one group of USTA League players has already clinched the first berth to Nationals of the season. Seven Tri-Level teams took home New England Sectional titles on January 15 at Ludlow Tennis Club in Ludlow, MA. By winning, they have earned the ultimate prize of competing at the Tri-Level Championships in March alongside the pros during the semifinals and finals of the BNP Paribas Open in beautiful Indian Wells, CA. The USTA Foundation is awarding seven scholarships to high school seniors who fit the following criteria: Demonstrate academic achievement (3.0 minimum GPA), perform community/volunteer service, participate in organized youth tennis program such as National Junior Tennis and Learning or demonstrate financial need. National Campus Opens in Orlando


The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today held the ceremonial “First Serve” at the USTA National Campus, the new “Home of American Tennis” located at Lake Nona in Orlando, Fla. Tennis icons, local dignitaries, partners and tennis enthusiasts were on hand to mark the occasion. The USTA National Campus officially opened earlier this week, on January 2, 2017. The model tennis facility, featuring 100 courts, will serve as the new “Home of American Tennis,” by combining all USTA participation programs and USTA Player Development in a central location for the first time. Lord Shines at Winter Nationals


While most New Englanders were home for the holidays, top juniors were busy in Arizona competing for the highest national prize this winter. Matt Lord and partner Max Freeman headlined the New England field that competed at the L1 USTA Winter National Championships in Scottsdale (18s & 16s) and Tucson (14s & 12s), AZ from December 27 until January 2. They took home the Silver Ball in Boys' 18s doubles. Read More
 

USTANE Grants Tennis Wishes


USTA New England’s mission is "To Promote and Develop the Growth of Tennis." Each and every day, the organization goes above and beyond to positively impact the local tennis community in a variety of ways, including: holding events and tournaments, offering support to organizations in need and recognizing those who help grow the game every day. More impressively however, USTANE directly impacts around 100 youth organizations every year by giving out grants to fund new or growing programming. In 2016 alone, USTA New England gave out more than $70,000 in monetary grants over two cycles and $26,000 in equipment, assisting a total of 107 organizations. Read More

Donald Tisdale, a longtime member of the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) board of directors, has been named “Person of the Year” for 2016 by Tennis Industry magazine in the publication’s January 2017 issue. New England Tennis Weekend a Success


After nearly a year of planning, USTA New England hosted its first New England Tennis weekend at the Hyatt Regency in Newport, RI from November 11-12. More than 200 guests attended the two-day conference that combined elements with the annual USTA League Workshop. Tennis Weekend featured a slate of informational sessions covering a variety of important topics, renowned motivational speakers and networking opportunities. Read More
