Nominations sought for Ashe Kids' Day Participants

The USTA/National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network would like you to nominate outstanding athletes and students to participate in the Arthur Ashe Kids' Day (AAKD) Pre-Show for a chance to win thousands of dollars for your NJTL. AAKD is Saturday, August 29th.

Eight participants will be selected for a target hitting competition during the AAKD Pre-Show. The player that hits the most targets (:30s forehands and :30s backhands) will enter the AAKD Stadium Show to hit against Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, and Rafael Nadal, all hitting for the charity of their choice. Your NJTL player will be playing to win money for your NJTL chapter. Last year, 14 year old Hai-Li Kong won $12,000 for her NJTL, Junior Tennis Champion Center.

If you have an outstanding player that meets the following criteria, please nominate him or her for this once in a lifetime opportunity:
Has a GPA over 3.25
Has a 4.0 or higher JNTRP
Has a top Sectional ranking and/or National ranking (top 100)
Is between the age of 13-17
Has participated in NJTL programming for more than 2 years
Has demonstrated excellence in citizenship and sportsmanship
Presents himself/herself well and speaks well (may have the opportunity to speak on camera)

As an NJTL, you:
Must have current NJTL registration
Must have a 501(c)3 Non-Profit status
May nominate up to one boy and one girl from your chapter.

Selected players:
Must be available for practice on Friday, August 28th, tentatively from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the Billie Kean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
Must be available for AAKD, Saturday, August 29th, tentatively from 12:00PM - 4:00PM.
May receive a small travel stipend and one night hotel if travelling from afar.

Nominations must be submitted no later than Thursday, July 30th, 5:00PM ET.

If you know of someone that meets the criteria, please let us know. This is their chance to play on Arthur Ashe Stadium Court in front of thousands of people!
